Retreat for students of Mission Institute was held at the Transfiguration Monastery in California

On November 3-7, 28 students of the Mission Institute took part in a retreat at the Holy Transfiguration Monastery, located near San Francisco.

The hieromonk Fr. Illia Mamchak preached about the spiritual life. The teachings of the deacon's ministry in the church and practical advice were given by Fr. Deacon Marko Krutiak. The Hegumen of the monastery, hieromonk Damian, spoke about the writing of icons and their significance in the life of the Church.

Every day the students took part in the prayer monastic rule and had the opportunity to get Confession. The participants also had spiritual conversations with Bishop Benedict and the brothers and fathers of the monastery. Questions concerning study at the Mission Institute were addressed to Fr. Roman Bobesiuk, administrator of the Institute.

Every night there were joint fraternal meetings, during which students had the opportunity to get to know each other better and talk about their vocation to the Christian life.

On the Saturday after the Liturgy, Fr. Damian presented the sisters of the Dormition of the Mother of God Monastery (Richmond) with a hand-written icon.

In conclusion, Father Damian and the monks organized a trip to Montgomery Park. After that, everyone went to the ocean coast, where they enjoyed God's beauty.

The retreat ended with a Thanksgiving Sunday Liturgy, after which all participants went to their homes.
