On the Sunday before the Feast of Theophany, the Church joyfully witnessed another vocation to ordained ministry. The Lord called to His service Brother Bohdan Monastyrskyi, a student of the Missionary Institute.
At the Parish of Saint Andrew the Apostle in Sacramento, His Excellency Bishop Benedict Aleksiychuk presided over the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, during which he conferred diaconal ordination upon Brother Bohdan.
Concelebrating with the Bishop were the parish administrator, Fr. Vasyl Miziuk; Protodacon Mark Krutyak; the administrator of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Fr. Oleh Kepeshchuk; and Fr. Oleh Zatvarskyi.
In his archpastoral homily, Bishop Benedict emphasized that today the Church has been enriched by the ordination of a new deacon, which is a great blessing for the entire ecclesial community. He encouraged the faithful to pray for the newly ordained deacon, asking the Lord to strengthen him in his ministry, zeal, and fidelity to his vocation.
