A three-day men’s retreat on the theme “The Role of Man in God’s Plan” took place in a quiet part of Wisconsin. Eighteen parishioners from four parishes of the Chicago Eparchy of the UGCC participated: St. Nicholas Cathedral (Chicago), St. Joseph the Betrothed Parish (Chicago), Immaculate Conception Parish (Palatine), and Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish (Chicago).
The program included common prayers, spiritual talks by Chancellor Fr. Serhiy Kovalchuk, fellowship, and participation in the Holy Mysteries. A special moment was the Divine Liturgy, during which participants had the opportunity for Confession and Holy Communion.
In his talks, Fr. Serhiy emphasized the responsibility and initiative of men, the importance of working with joy, constant prayer and living according to God’s commandments, and sacrificial love for one’s wife after the example of Christ.
The retreat became a time of renewed faith, brotherly support, and a deeper understanding of the Christian vocation of men in family and community life.
