Summer is a time of rest, friendship, and joy. For the parishes of St. Nicholas Eparchy in the United States, it is also an opportunity for faith-filled camps. In Chicago, the “Fun with God” camps have been held for several years, bringing together children, youth, and spiritual mentors into a community of faith.
The youth community “Youth PRO,” founded a year and a half ago at St. Joseph the Betrothed Parish (Chicago, Illinois), set out to grow in Christ and to learn how to serve others. Having already gained experience running camps in Chicago, this summer they traveled all the way to North Dakota!
From August 12–15, the grounds of St. Demetrius Church in Dickinson, North Dakota became a space of prayer, games, dancing, and singing. Children participated in the Divine Liturgy, enjoyed quests, learned new action songs, and listened to catechesis on the 7 Holy Mysteries. There was also a special trip to Theodore Roosevelt National Park — the canyons, bison, and prairie dogs left unforgettable impressions.
The success of the camp was possible thanks to the generosity of the local parish community. Fr. Stepan Ivanchyk, together with his wife Solomiya and parishioners, took care of everything: meals, lodging, and creating a warm, family atmosphere.
These days became more than just summer fun. It was an opportunity to serve the Church, to experience unity in Christ, and to witness the living faith of Ukrainian communities in the U.S.
Glory to God for everything!
