Father and Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC, congratulated Bishop Benedict Aleksiychuk, Eparch of St. Nicholas in Chicago, on the 15th anniversary of his episcopal ordination — which he called “a great blessing for the faithful of our Church in Ukraine, and later in America.”
In his greeting, the Head of the Church expressed gratitude to the Lord for Bishop Benedict’s life, episcopal ministry, and all the gifts with which God has blessed him.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav recalled:
“Fifteen years ago, in St. George’s Cathedral in Lviv, you were ordained as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archeparchy of Lviv. Later you were appointed Eparch of St. Nicholas in Chicago, where you became a good father and guide for the faithful of our Church.”
“On this joyful day, together with you, we lift our prayers to the Lord, thanking Him for calling you to the path of sacrificial dedication to the Church. Your episcopal service is marked by zeal, responsibility, and faithful spiritual leadership of God’s people,” noted the Head of the Church.
He also thanked Bishop Benedict “for your active participation in the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC” and added:
“We deeply value your constant care for our homeland, which today bravely resists the Russian aggressor. Asking the Lord to continue to guide you, we offer you our heartfelt gratitude, recognition, and respect.”
“Please accept our sincere congratulations and best wishes of abundant God’s blessings, the help of the Holy Spirit in all your works — for the glory of God and the good of our Church. Many happy and blessed years!” — wished His Beatitude.
