On Sunday, August 24, the parish of Our Lady of Zarvanytsia in Seattle gathered together to celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day. The day began with a prayer service and the Divine Liturgy, led by pastor Fr. Andriy. During the service, the faithful prayed for our soldiers and for peace in Ukraine.

After the Liturgy, a memorial service was held for the fallen heroes, followed by a charity fair. All proceeds were donated to support the 77th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The celebration continued in the parish hall with a concert, where parishioners, both adults and children, honored Ukraine with songs, poems, and dances. Special guests included the “Barvinok” ensemble, guitarist Mykola Sologubovskyi, and bandura player Valentyn Lysenko.

This special day was a moment of prayer, gratitude, and joy for the gift of freedom, which our nation continues to defend.
